What I took from learning about an Anglo-Saxon hero is that they accomplish things. The time period is a lot more heroic. They went after goals and dreams. Accomplished these dreams by fighting through it. Also by never giving up.
I think the elegies are still seen today in both different and same form. They are different because in our time period we don’t have the “monsters”, heroic war leaders, and the whole heroic view that these great stories have. We are a lot more modern and know what’s going on all the time from social media. We don’t wait for the hero to come back and tell his battle story because we can just look up the news in 5 seconds. They are also the same because we do have hero’s that go out and save people every day.
